Meet a Tafelaar: Charlotte Petty
"My husband and I initiated the BEZA Foundation after meeting the volunteers of the BEZA Association in September 2015 while on our honeymoon. We were so inspired by the tireless work that the volunteers do every day to support the members of the association that we wanted to support their work and help the association develop. Too often due to stigma, people living with HIV are outcast from their families and receive limited financial and social support. BEZA was initiated to speak out against discrimination and to provide community care for these people including orphans and vulnerable children directly impacted by HIV/AIDS in Lalibela, Ethiopia."
How can the community help you?
"We would love to meet people with online and offline retail experience & product design knowledge that can help us with the next phase of the BEZA income generation project. We want to train members in craft skills and set up the local community shop in Lalibela as well as making the products available online in Europe."
What can you offer the community?
"I am happy to share my professional public health knowledge to brainstorm together about how to ensure inclusive health impact in internationally supported projects. I would happily participate in a Tafel van 7 event to offer this perspective where it is relevant or needed!"
